Pakistan School Roof Collapse Kills 35, Including 34 Children and Teacher, in Peshawar: Authorities Order Safety Inspections
At least 35 people, including 34 children and a female teacher, died when the roof of Al-Khair Education Centre collapsed in Peshawar, Pakistan, on October 15, 2026. More than 45 children were injured, and rescuers saved at least 40 pupils from the debris. Police arrested the school's owner as investigators examined structural weaknesses, recent rainfall and possible construction-related problems. Some families said earlier warnings about the building's condition were ignored. Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have ordered inspections of private schools, while UNICEF has called for stronger building safety standards and support for affected families.
